What is Terracrua Design's P.E.A.R.
(Structural Regenerative Agriculture Planning) system?

Our approach and method is based on the creation of an agro-regenerative matrix or "background" , and is inspired by the principles of Permaculture Design (B. Mollison and D. Holmgren), the Design Key-line (PA Yeomans) , Natural Agriculture (M. Fukuoka), Holistic Management (Allan Savory) and Biodynamic Agriculture (R. Steiner), can be applied in productive spaces and landscapes, in areas and areas with purely ecological functions, or for leisure spaces and pedagogical.

The Agro Regenerative Structural Planning (PEAR) analyzes and covers the entire landscape , projects, plans and arranges all the infrastructures necessary for the establishment of human activities, in deep balance with the ecological framework of each landscape or territory. The purpose of this service is to present the client with a " master plan" of strategies and processes to achieve its objectives, taking into account the information collected in the observation, survey and analysis phase.

 

  • It focuses on the integration of all invisible components of the landscape (natural and artificial), in a holistic plan of ecological architecture, covering the entire landscape;

  • It seeks to turn the natural conditions of the landscape into polyvalent “allies” of the landowner, through a plan for the management of natural resources;

  • Designs and plans all interventions in the territory, and its adjacent infrastructure plan, for maximum efficiency and low ecological, energy and financial impact in the short, medium and long term;

Organize space intelligently - The network

Before locating elements / structures (houses, buildings, etc.), one should think about an integrated framework, which allows the creation of:

  • A "frame" of structural vegetation that recreates the phenomenon of clearing, to protect human structures and activities, creating shelter for biodiversity, at the top of the hills, at the bottom of the valleys, at the perimeter, in the accesses of hedges and in the green corridors. This network of vegetation will also become a network of spontaneous fauna and flora. This mainframe of vegetation will also enhance the capture of rain and fog and restore the water cycle in these small mountains, recharging aquifers and restoring water sources.

  • Network of dams, ponds, ditches / swales and forests that allow rainwater to infiltrate the landscape, following basic principles such as speed reduction, dispersion and infiltration. The patterns of plantations that receive productive or forest species, in a water-efficient system, enhance the success of the plantations and mitigate surface runoff / rainwater erosion.

  • An intelligent network of accesses, both on roads and on footpaths, which serves as a water capture tool, taking rainwater to dams and ponds, avoiding the negative effects of erosion and soil losses and, thus, accumulating water for different purposes.

  • A network of infrastructures that defines where and where water and energy should go, protecting water reserves and energy supplies and decentralizing irrigated areas for maximum efficiency and resilience.

  • A precise grazing system, developed to allow cattle in an extensive way, creating the structural conditions for the rapid recovery of pastures. This system is based on the rapid but controlled passage of herds in small plots, so that their impact is better on grasses and soils, fixing more carbon and producing more quality pastures.

  • A "light" intervention plan for the large-scale structuring of the open landscape, where a "frame" of contour lines embraces the shape of the earth and gives it characteristics of cohesion and clearing. These lines serve several functions, such as: parceling, infrastructure passage, water retention, green corridors for vegetation, as well as access for maintenance.

  • Diversity in productive areas, polyculture and multiextracted plantations. All productive zones would be diverse in species and extracts, but focused on simple patterns that allow the total mechanization of the installation, handling and harvesting stations.

  • Among the main advantages of having a mainframe design, is the fact that all agricultural activities would be cheaper and more integrated, both in implementation, but mainly, in maintenance. We develop systems for easy maintenance and for total abundance in terms of regenerative production. The permanent gardens benefited a lot from the previous organization of the spaces, allowing more efficient preparations, a structured irrigation system and hedges.
